I know I haven’t been as active on the blog as I should have, and I am not going to give you a long list of excuses. I figured most of you were also busy Christmas shopping, attending office parties, and trying to wrap up everything before the year ends. And Christmas time is family time for me, so we all try and stay off line as much as possible for a few days 🙂
But here I am now, cosy in bed with my laptop and hot tea, reflecting on the year that’s about to end and hiding away from the crazy minus temperature outside. 2017 has been a year of new beginnings for me. It has been extremely busy, let me tell you, but looking back at it now, I must say, it’s been amazingly productive and happy 🙂 First and foremost, I am back to writing, and writing about things I love and know! It took me a while to find my niche, but better late than never 🙂 And today I want to talk about… summer, beach, and ocean. Yes, you read it right. I am sure every self-respecting beauty blogger has already given you their Top 10 Christmas gift recommendations, Top 5 New Year party outfits and shared their holiday special recipes. Well, let me derail you just a bit from the happy Christmas and New Year madness 🙂
With cold temperatures back in our lives (yes, we knew mild December wouldn’t last), I can’t help but remember last March trip to Mexico. It was so great to get away from Edmonton cold for a week! What was even better is suntan that cleared up my skin and gave it that special summer glow. I miss it all even more now that during the last windy and extremely cold couple of days, my skin flaked up and was in desperate need of thorough exfoliation. Daydreaming about long walks on the beach and salty breezes, I opened up this wonderful set of scrubs by the Australian Organik Botanik. You might have guessed by now that I chose the whole package mostly because of the sea salt scrub. And below is my review of this find.
The scrub’s texture is extra fine. After watering my face, I applied it evenly with my fingertips and massaged my face ever so lightly. Mind you, this is the only manner you’d want it done – due to the fineness of the granules, you don’t want to apply too much pressure not to hurt yourself and cause unnecessary irritation. My skin did redden and I felt slight burn when not being careful around more sensitive areas. The redness didn’t last long and I counteracted it with a Maskeraide mask. After I washed the scrub off, the skin was left smooth and soft due to the oils contained in the formula.
Since it contains salt, make sure your skin is free of cuts, scratch marks and such as salt can aggravate the condition. I did have a few white heads on my chin, so I was extra careful around those.
My favourite thing about the scrub is its smell – it reminds me of sea freshness and that special salty taste that fills every summer vacation memory! (Forgive the summer-themed writing, but this is the only way to survive the -30s we’ve been having lately lol). The content is also perfect for those of you who watch the ingredients closely as I haven’t noticed any suspicious additives in it. Rich in natural minerals, the scrub has an amazing effect on face skin.
I would suggest to limit the scrub’s use to 1-2 times per week because it’s a harsher exfoliation than needed on a daily basis and it could potentially hurt your face skin. I find it perfect for winter season as it removes dead skin cells effectively and prevents flaking. Most importantly, it will bring back summer in the midst of all the snow and cold 🙂 And who would say no to that? 😉
Stay warm, cosy and looking gorgeous, my Lovelies!
P. S. You will definitely hear from me once I get to try the other two scrubs from the package! Stay tuned 😉
